When I was in college (1977 to 1982) I had a great used 186 CC (built in 1972 I think). I had Larry Minick put quarters on the paddles to extend the levers and a left thumb 5th valve kicker (ala Roger Bobo's) for intonation in the low register. Used a Mirafone C4 or Rose Solo.

After selling that horn in 1984 (was using my B&S 'F' most of the time then - I bought a new 188 CC in 1986 that played beautifully. No modifications. Used a PT-10 mouthpiece that worked perfectly with the horn.

I now own a Miraphone 1290 CC purchased used from Dave Fedderly in 2001. Dave wasn't sure of the horn's age. Serial #15754. I've had Robb Stewart cut the 5th valve slide down to a flat whole step, added an Amada waterkey to the bottom of the 3rd valve crook and a 4th valve slide spring return. Also needed Robb to realign the piston valves - all 4 pistons were off by at least 3/8"! I'm using a Marcinkiewicz gold N2 mouthpiece. I love this instrument!

Cheers,
Bob
