So many people come to our municipal band's concerts, and, they get there so darned early, that it's not unusual to park 4 blocks from the concert site. I finally gave in to being on the downhill side of 40 and bought a hand truck from the local Farm & Fleet. This little beauty has oversized pneumatic tires, so it's almost an "all-terrain handtruck." It only cost $29, and it also works great for hauling my electric bass rig around. Life has been good ever since, especially now that the twinge in my lower back has disappeared.
I did a search of the site and saw that this has come up before in March 2002. The only thing I have to add to the previous discussions is: if your car doesn't have room for both the hand truck and the tuba, a bicycle rack works just fine for hauling the truck.
