I have been using an older Conn Helleberg 7B on my 1969 vintage 10J and the mpc works really well for me on that horn. However, the low range is stuffy until I get really loosened up, as tuba isn't my primary instrument.

I just got a 1960s vintage Conn #2 mpc and it shows great promise on the horn, and it is larger diameter than the 7B. I haven't used on a gig yet, but the #2 seems to open up the low end of the horn.

Just a thought... if your Helleberg isn't marked as a 7B, it is probably a Helleberg standard. My old 7B is marked "7B" on the outside of the bowl just above the shank.
