The only difficulties I see are in putting some borderline comfortable keys from CC tuba into some really uncomfortable keys on a DD. Specifically Eb and Ab. The lay of those keys on a CC can be uncomfortable enough in a run. That pitch of horn makes Eb the 1/2 step up from the fundamental, and that's usually a pretty wonky set of fingerings. I don't know of many horns that don't require more adjustment on that set than on the rest of the fingerings. Definitely NOT a band instrument.

Of course, that same argument can be made for any pitch of horn, but I wouldn't want to play 1812, Dias Irae or the Great Gate on a DD. That could make for some really difficult tuning at a really loud volume.
