Hi.
The Persechetti Serenade is a real standard in the unaccompanied solo literature. It is a good study in playing in different styles and establishing a lot of character in a short amount of time, as some of the movements are pretty short. I like this along with the Hartley Unaccompanied Suite as an introduction to contemporary literature.
The Parable is something altogether different. It is a very difficult solo that places alot of demands (musical, technical, intellectual) on the performer (and the audience!). I like it an awful lot, but it's a bear. This has been recorded by Mark Nelson.
Both of these are worthy of study and performance! Good luck!
