Getting into UNT isn't that hard. Getting in as a music major is a little more difficult. That said, I don't think that going as an undeclared major would be that bad if you could take some lessons once you get there, and most universities do have a lesson option for non-majors. You may get the lessons from grad students, but a music school like UNT is very fertile soil if you want to get better. Especially if you managed to get a lesson or two with Brian Bowman or Don Little.
Who knows? If you improve enough, you may be invited to major in music, if that's what you want to do.
