The 186 has better intonaion but with the slightly thinner brass it has a brighter sound. The 25 is the darkest of all the BBb 4/4 rotary tubas. You can really pump some volume through it. The 186's are better than what they used to be but the 25 is still the darkest. The Miraphone has a little lighter linkage and is fastest on the market and very little noise.
Lots of ways to coompare them. They are both great for some things and both have different pluses and minuses. Alot will depend on what kind of sound you are seeking.
