What is interesting/disappointing about the Eastman Wind Ensemble is that the Eastman wind students tend to find it annoying when it is their turn to "serve" in the wind ensemble. Moreover, they collectively tend to hold the belief that time spent in the wind ensemble takes away from their orchestral training.
Again, relating to my interaction with these students, the only time that these students seemed to be interested in serving in the wind ensemble was for the bi-annual trip to Japan, which seems now to have been permanently cancelled.
