I decided to take up the tuba again after a 39 year lay off. I was unable to find a "rental" tuba and ended up buying a Besson 3/4 size B flat tuba. I wanted to rent because there were no assurances I could get a recoginzable note to come out of the big end. I don't know if the Besson was a "New Standard" but was surprised how it played. I thought it was a bit small in size for me. It was difficult to sit and play, I'm 6'2" and 250. I thought it would be a great walk around tuba, say in a Dixieland group.

A word of caution regarding my advise, I have been "out of the loop" so long I know very little about todays tubas. I traded in the Besson for a Sanders that seems to play well but what do I know. I need to find another Sanders owner or two to pick their brains. Have fun,
Dick
