I like the SKB cases because they are light weight, but hard sided. They can break if abused, but do provide better protection than a gig bag. I had a Conn wood case that did a great job of protecting the horn, but was so heavy that it was nearly impossible to move it without a dolly, and I'm 6' 5" 225lbs. I believe that the SKB cases are around $200 each. I have a Pro-Pac sousaphone gig bag that protects pretty well and is very light also. It was around $170.
