Having never really received pay for playing the tuba; I'm not sure what my opinion is worth. But here goes...
As everyone has said the cost of living in Hong Kong is incredibly high. Most Americans would not be comfortable with the quality of life they would get there for $65,000. This is a very important consideration.
But, if some one was willing to tolerate the living conditions for a couple of years, the experience (playing and living abroad) plus a nice entry for the resume might lead to better things more quickly than an easier course.
