Im not the only one that thinks so.
Most of your pro's play pistons.
the best thing to do is have someone play a fast passage on a pisont and a rotor and play a slured fast passage on a piston on both and you be where you cant see what they are and then have him write down what he is going to play and then play and see which on on both playings is cleaner and where more notes can be heard. The rotaory tuba always seems to have a slightly more running the notes together sound and the piston is cleaner.
I am actually one that does not like to practice and pistons are easier for a lazy person because it takes less work to clean up fast passages.
But i love my tuba for sound and work harder to play faster since i play a rotor tuba.
Ill bet you pick the piston for a cleaner technical passage and the slurs come out a little more clearer as well where the individual notes are heard easier.
