I've seen, and instructed, other outdoor ensembles that tuned to a variety of A's in order to match the keyed percussion's weather-induced variances. People might be able to tell some sort of tone color difference between A440 and A445, but they can definitely tell when the winds are trying to play A440 and the keyboards are zinging along at A445 (or A436!).

And, if I remember correctly, "standard" pitch had actually gone down to A440 within the last century or so, after being as high as maybe A450, or even higher. Lots of history behind that, but I can't remember well enough to declare here.
