Taxes when you are returning with new merchandise as a rule run 10%. The custom agent can use his own judgement to set the amount. This makes the return trip somewhat risky. If you buy it in Europe and then ship it you still have pay taxes and the flat rate is a low 2.9%. Instruments sold in Europe that stay in Europe have 16% sales tax. That is the valve added tax that Americas can not fathom. When I bought my latest tuba the maker deducted the VAT from the sales price. This allowed me to save close to $1000. If you do the math you will see I did not buy the HB-50.
