Based on the size it is probably an Eb sousaphone. As someone else pointed out USQMC stands for United States Quarter Master Corp. This means that it was originally purchased by the US Army, and they only buy top quality equipment. I would guess-timate its value at between $300 - $600, depending on condition. If it has 4 valves it could be worth more. Unfortunately, Eb sousaphones are in very limited demand these days and that keeps the value relatively low. However, a serial number of 23426 would date this from around the turn of the century, which could act value to collectors. Putting it on eBay, as suggested, with a high reserve is one way to get an indication of value. If you do so make sure to include detailed pictures. If people can't see it they are much less likely to bid.
