There are 5 horn players in my family. When I play duets, trios, quartets etc with them I find it easy to have them play horn in Eb. Then I read the part up one octave replacing the treble clef sign with a bass clef sign and adding three flats to the key signature. Try it and you will quickly discover a few rules about accidentals which are a function of the key in which the piece is written. The literature of horn duets is very large and good. Playing with a good hornist will make you a much better tubist! After getting proficient at that it is easy to play everything one step higher and the horns will not need to play horn in Eb.
