I grew a mousthache as a teenager because shaving and hormones caused little zits on my lips and a few clams (!) in my playing. Musical and egotistical concerns demanded fuzz on my lip, not in my sound. I shaved it off for similar reasons: I found as I aged the hair became so stiff it seemed to stab little holes in my flesh. I even cut my lip on occasion on extremely loud low stuff. FWIW.
