I think this was a wonderful lesson you learned. My lesson was in 1977 with a new to me tuba, at that point it was 54 years old. A couple of years ago, my daughter offered to help polish, I think she is now old enough she won't do that again. My preference is to provide something to make the neighbors stare when they drive by on a hot summers day.
