I think that the problem is that King has bored the receiver a little too wide. There's no internal obstruction; the mouthpieces that don't fit go all the way in until they hit the flange at the wide end of the shank and still don't seat. Even so, my SH II with a European shank still doesn't go in very far, so I think that the receiver's just bored out a touch too large. Most of my older American shank mouthpieces rattle around, but I have an ancient Bach 18 that fits with a bare millimeter of clearance, although my no-name 18, HMG 18, and Dillon G3 go all the way in and are still loose. Of course, the UMI 2 that came with the horn fits perfectly, so I may try a UMI 18 later.
