Are you doing mostly solo work? Quintet? What kind of sound do you want? Dark and full like a CC, or light and fluffy like a big euph? Do you have a contrabass for your bigger work? Is your contrabass a 4/4 or 6/4? Are you looking for an F because your teacher told you so or because you've tried Eb's and don't like Eb's as much? If you haven't thought about these questions, first I'd suggest getting a used horn. That way you have a horn to learn fingerings on, and when you figure out what you want you can sell it and get most, if not all of your money back.

Without answers to the above questions, neither I nor anyone else on this list can give you really good advice.

Scott
