From what I understand the F. Schmidt is the same as the VMI. I bought a F. Schmidt 2103 with a case from Brooke Mayes. I got the hard moulded case. I've had it since semptember and have been very pleased with the case in general. It seems a bit tight for the horn at times, but that's probably for the best. It's really sturdy and the wheels are pretty sturdy too. I try not to off-road with it, but it's not always possible.
