I was considering the 2141 for a while as my Eb purchase. Other influences made me go for the 983.
I'm very happy with the 983 and as far as your love of belting out big fat low notes, this can be done on this horn. Over all it has a great sound and is even in all registers.
What i've heard about the Meinl 2141 is that it's a new tuba on the market (i'm talking about when it was released) so it had "new tuba" problems, like intonation concerns. A number of people on this list have played one and noticed this problem.
I have no doubt it is a good horn but it may still need improvements.
Is it still in manufacture, or has it been cancelled, can anyone tell me?
