* Wagner's "government" employer demanded accountability (ENTERTAINMENT and INSPIRATION).

* John Steven's composition indeed was not paid for by his state government, nor is he a member of the composition faculty at his school. Another example of this (as there are hundreds of examples of music departments which house remarkable composers within their NON-composition faculty) is JAMES BARNES (at the University of Kansas), the renowned composer (and arranger) of top-quality and artistic wind-band compositions. At least when I knew him there, he was one of the assistant band directors...OK, another example is Dr. Stanley Friedman. He has been Principal Trumpet in New Zealand and Israel and has taught at several universities - never as a member of their composition faculties. Many of his compositions are exquisite.

*I wish more government music faculty members handled more situations with "courtesy[, humility] and humor". It oft seems as though the more mundane the territory, the more some seem to demand respect for holding it.
