I'm sorry that I don't know what to tell you to do to make it stop. I think that I agree with your instructor. I recall that changing the balance between air speed and air volume would sometimes (often) make it stop. I'm pretty sure that the cause is weakness in one of the lips, and the acoustical resistance simply dictates that the weakened lip vibrates at half the speed (the easiest thing for it to do) of the other one.

I think it is safe to assure you that this problem will eventually go away. I sympathize with your temporary discouragement.
