These days, all you need is a website (that can be found) to be "published":

A sound clip of the first minute or so of it - or the whole thing and (probably) a pdf file of the first page of the score. If you're fancy a "shopping cart" thing that takes credit cards, etc., and if not, simply the prices (including postage) and your email address or mailing address and phone number. This would be best with a display of, say, at least five or so compositions for related genre. You'd need to copyright the stuff, but that's relatively easy. (Actually, copyrighting doesn't do much for you, in the practical world, IMO.)

"The old fashioned way" (having a known company print your stuff on paper and offer it in their catalog) is a bit more difficult, but not nearly as difficult as having a book published "the old fashioned way".

Others know much more about this. I ain't even a composer...just an (occasionally, when I need to be) UNpublished arranger.
