I don't think you really thought your suggestion through Joe. We are talking a Besson, which some classify as a 3/4 horn (I consider it a 4/4). If you use the flair from the recording bell which will be about 24 inches and turn that into an upright, do you realize how top heavy that will be. The particular horn they are talking about, I believe is a 4 valve compensator, which is awkward enough to try and use the 4th valve when it has a 17" bell. Imagine trying to play one with a 24" upward bell. Also the upper bow of the Besson is known to be very high. So high that it probably wouldn't allow room for the flair of the 24" bell.
