Why not? It's obviously not an expensive euph, so you've got little to lose and a lot to gain. Just make sure that you cut the tubing cleanly--I prefer a jeweler's saw, but a dremel tool might be better for close work. Try to find a piece of tubing larger than the outer slides that you can slip over them and use as a guide. Be sure to de-burr the ends; you can probably use a bit of 220 wet-dry sandpaper wrapped on a piece of wood to clean the ends up.

To figure out how much you need to cut, pull the second slide until problem notes are twice as flat as they normally are (e.g., if they're 10 cents flat, pull until they're 20 cents flat). The amount you had to pull the slide will tell you how much you have to remove.
