New Miraphones are some of the more consistent tubas around. Miraphones from the 60's and 70's are regarded by some as being "great vintage" horns, but that's a matter of opinion. However, during the 1980's, Miraphone USA (Sun Valley, CA) embarked on a co-op venture, shipping in parts from Germany and assembling them here. Those particular instruments can be extremely variable in quality and are probably best avoided. Miraphones made in Germany during the same period, however, are worth consideration.
