This is way too subjective to place in a top 5...

chronologically (from oldest to youngest) you could do:

1. Bill Bell and Arnold Jacobs
2. Ron Bishop, Abe Torchinsky, Harvey Phillips, Chester Schmitz, Dan Perantoni, Roger Bobo, Tommy Johnson, Jim Self, John Fletcher
3. Warren Deck, Jim Self, Chuck Daellenbach, Floyd Cooley, Paul Krzwycki (no way is the sp right), Sam Pilafian, Marty Erickson, Micheal Lind, Mike Sanders
4. Gene Pokorney, Norm Pearson, Pat Sheridan, Dave Kirk, Velvet Brown
5. Alan Baer, Ja Tik Clark, Chris Olka, Tony Kniffen

... and I've forgotten a lot more (especially European tubists - I'd like to know Berlin, Concertgebouw, NDR, Staatskapelle, Paris, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, etc.). Let me know corrections and who and where you think a new person should be added.
