Assuming the condition is roughly equivalent, I'd pick the Conn 20K. While some people don't like the short action valves, I do - I liked them on the 20ks and 24K I've played and the 20Js and 24Js I've played. Once you're used to them, technical passages are much easier with the short valve throw. I think the Conns speak more easily than the Kings, are less stuffy in the lower register, and have a bigger sound. The Conns are pretty well in tune, with a few issues (the F, notably). The Kings are a little better in tune, but the D in the staff is pretty flat played open.

That said, for an upright, I quite contentedly play a King 2341, which is much easier to get around with than a 24J.
