Hi,

My sousaphone-playing days are officially over. I played in the local St. Patrick's day parade (on 3-17) and the pain throughout my left arm and hand is just beginning to subside. So, I now have the following for sale:

1935ish King EEb Sousaphone (serial # 172126):
-silver plated - I managed to hand rub off about 1/2 tarnish. I had the Dremel tool
ready to go and then decided that it wasn't that important (it's the sound that
matters). TarnX is evil.
-three valves (plating is worn, but they function properly)
-the usual dings and dents (it must have been rested on the bell as it is a bit
flattened around the perimeter) - but nothing too extreme.
-includes a shoulder pad and a homemade leadpipe which I constructed from
materials (about $10 worth) that I found at my local hardware store. It fits my face
and works quite nicely (with a large shank mouthpiece). It may or may not work for
you.
-The tuning slides move (although the third valve slide requires a bit more coaxing
than the rest.
-It doesn't have a lyre clamp (but a hose clamp works well) and I use a hose clamp
to hold the leadpipe in place.

This horn plays in pretty good tune and has a nice, big sound (which is really what matters isn't it?). I bought it for TubaChristmas and parade performances, but I'm going to have to now rely on a (strapped on) small Eb. A mouthpiece is not included.

$325 firm. Here's the catch: I have no interest in shipping this beast. It just isn't worth the time and hassle. I live in the New York City metropolitan area (Brooklyn) and I can entertain prospective buyers at home or I can drive reasonable distances.
Please email drseebaugh(AT)yahoo.com if you are interested. I will try to have some pictures available, but my digital camera seems to be MIA.

Thanks,

Dave
