Chuck is right. (Hi, Chuck...)

The Department of Defense issue of the National Anthem is a good arrangement (if you like high clarinets!) and assumes that you can play. Win the job, get your GI sousaphone and make something good happen with it. It is a DC Band job, and that says a lot for the person who eventually wins the position.

Six and a half octaves is great. But can you play? And can you read? If you can, then diet and exercise and take the audition, by all means.

Look, this is not a "gig." It is very much a career. I wish any of you taking the audition the best of luck.

Wade
