For the past several years, I dragged a euphonium to Easter gigs because so many of the parts are 2nd bone / bass bone.

The gig today was:

show up (AT) 7:10 A.M. and rehearse (only rehearsal). 8:30 and 10:45 services.

Using the euphonium (actually a really nice old Boosey & Hawkes comp. that Jenny in England sold me...It arrived in the mail yesterday.) I played

R. Strauss - Entrada Festiva
Beethoven - Halleluia Chorus
Bernstein - Chichester Psalms (mvt. I)
and maybe one other thing...

The rest I played on tuba...probably 50/50 - euph/tuba...

...Obviously I played the specified congregational hymn stanzas (Lasst Uns Erfreuen, et
al) on tuba and the obligatory John Rutter - JCHRT

Hey, it blends better on many pieces, and I seem to get hired back.
