I played in the AIMS festival two summers ago and it is quite expensive.

They only provide housing and meals on the days you are working. Since you get every weekend off(all of them were three or four day weekends), you have quite a few meals to pay for. You also have to pay for roundtrip airfare, which was around $1300.00, and a streetcar/bus pass.

They prefer you to use a travel agent set-up by AIMS and if you do not, they do not pick you up or drop you off at the airport. They do reimburse you for airline fees associated with flying with any tubas though.
