Gus, is that universally true or true for only some manufacturers? In the case of concert tubas, it seems to me to be a silly waste of resources to have a completely different stock of parts for the first valve, when the situation could be managed by simply pulling the 1st slide. But then perhaps it's common practice in the predominantly 3-valve sousaphone world.
