I'm trying to remember the conclusions of that article on mouthpiece cup volume. I seem to recall a relationship between the resonance of the mouthpiece (determined by popping the large opening onto your palm) and the tendency to go sharp up high, but the exact relationship escapes my memory. A mouthpiece with a lower (?) resonance might pull that part of the range down some.

I managed a similar problem on my York Master by using a mouthpiece with a larger volume and a wider throat. The larger volume may have had the effect mentioned above, and the wider throat made everything easier to steer, or something like that.
