...unlacquered instruments and prefer the sound. I think they're more resonant, and a little darker than silver plated instruments. My tuba is unlacquered. I have identical Yamaha bass trombones that started out playing virtually the same. I took the lacquer (pretty thick on Yamahas) off of one, and found it to be more resonant, and a little bigger sound. I think a euphonium would look really nice without lacquer, and with a nice aged patina. You can put a shine on top of the patina with lemon pledge. I've seen lots of french horns and tubas like this. Go for it!
