Just my $.02, but I've found that the throat/backbore have as much to do with the low register as anything. Obviously, the more air you can move, the better. A C4 (relatively small throat) on my 190 CC just seems to back up a little too much when I try digging in the spurs, especially down in the basement. This Harrick copy I have works beautifully. I A/B-ed it with a couple of the DIllon Geibs, and there was no comparison. The undercut also helps add volume to the cup.

I don't know how this piece would work on a piston BAT, but on a big rotary, it's a woolly beast.
