If you don't have to get serious, don't ever get serious.

Just practice and play and do whatever you need to do in order to please yourself with the result. So many professionals never reach their full potential because they spend too much time being serious and not enough time enjoying what they do. This leads to burn-out. I have seen so many talented people burn out when they stopped enjoying what they were doing.

This question depends on your ultimate goal. Practice. Seek expert advice. We practice in order to play our horns well. Always remember that we are playing. Have fun!
