the 173 is a truly great-sounding large large horn, with most of the valve branches on the front of it, the rotors are moved over to the bell-side, allowing a relatively short lead pipe but best of all a rotor paddle throw of about 1/4" !!! MUCH better intonation than the old Alexander alternative for a large horn, their "kaiser-style" 164
