Use whatever you sound best with. No need to find something new just because you have used the same tune 100 times before. If you sound great on the Broughton and that piece immediatelly grabs the listeners attention and is not too long then use it. Taped auditions only REALLY last about 15-45 seconds per person. Those first few seconds are like a first round. If you get past that "round" for the listener then they might listen to a couple of more minutes of the tape. Consider that the second round. Get past that and you will be invited.

So that first "round" is very important. If you put on a tune which takes 2-3 minutes to get to the "good part" than you will not make it. The tape will be shut off after less than a minute, unless the committee has very few tapes and lots of time on their hands and are willing to keep listening.

The second "round" is also important. Start of with a great opening minute or two and follow it with 4-5 more minutes of "filler" material which is not well prepared and you will loose that second round.

To summarize, send in whatever you sound best on. The committee will be hearing you for the first time, even though you might have played that tune 100 times. Start the tape out the tape with some high energy music which begins immediatelly. Finish the rest of the tape with equally strong material. NO FILLER MATERIAL. Only your best stuff. Better a tape which is too short and packed with world class stuff, than a lengthy tape with peaks and valleys. Keep excerpts short unless specifically asked for full movements. The committee will probably not be willing to listen to a 20 minute concerto followed by 30 orchestral/band excerpts.
