I've heard several PLAYERS play a "stellar" low C on a rotary F tuba. Why people judge an instrument solely on its comparative ability to play one note is beyond me. I'm sure many incredible horns are passed up simply because a player is not willing to take the time to work on the one note, and end up with a superior instrument in every other regard.
