Stauffer included a picture of a York full double in F and BBb. It used a change valve upstream from the valves, and a gigantic rotary change valve with about a 2" bore downstream from the valves. The front-action piston valves had two complete sets of branches, and the pistons looked to be about a foot long. According to Stauffer, Vince owned the instrument, and he may still.

I looked like it weighed about 50 pounds, heh, heh. And I'd think almost any rotaries would be faster than foot-long pistons. And the change from F to BBb, if executed too quickly, might tear the horn apart from the momentum of that enormous downtsream change valve. Rotax, schmotax--that valve was about four inches in diameter and must have weighed a ton.
