It seems like most of those Catholic high schools down in New Orleans have these good ol' Zeiss/Amati tubas.
One of the band directors quite a few years ago got my name from someone, I overhauled his Zeiss tubas, and he told several other band directors down there.
Needless to say, I've seen a lot of these Zeiss tubas from that vintage. They are very solid instruments (and NOT at all "flimsy" like some allege of the currently-made Czech instruments) with a very focused sound and consistant scale. Particularly with recent price increases on European tubas, what I suspect might (??) be the reserve on this instrument is a very good value.
