Finally, after a year of waiting, my wishes for a new tuba have been granted! After a long and helpful playing session at the Brasswind, and a lot of help from Roger Lewis, I have a very unusual 187. It is unusual in the fact that the horn is of the goldbrass variety, such as the gold brass 191. The other unusual aspect of this particular horn is the fact that it has a custom first-slide kicker. It is pretty much one of a kind. It plays with a beautiful, deep, dark sound, and the intonation, as it should be on a Miraphone, is close to perfect. I could not have asked for a beter horn, and I played this against the other considerations, the 191 and 189, before making this choice. I love it, and could not ask for anything better.
