You are correct. After I got my Getzen, within a few weeks I began to notice one or two "quirks." After a month, though, I adjusted to them and I don't even notice them.
I've never played a mirafone I didn't like (that's not saying much, but still ;-) ), so I doubt the 187 would be any different.
I tried the Getzens in a)a crowded bandroom b)Hodgson Hall at UGA, c) in a bandroom at UGA, and d)in a gym. Liked it in each place. I wasn't up to par on CC fingerings at the time, so I had to rely on slow stuff, but then again, slow stuff is about all I can play anyway :-D
