I was in a similar situation as you, but a little easier. I was able to live at home for free but I still had to pay for college - and all that that entails on my own. Find a job at a busy trendy restaurant (Chilis, Fridays - something like that) and become a waiter. You will make a lot of money - more than at most "student" jobs. Just working weekends I was able to pay almost all of my undergrad study, plus most food, cd's, concerts, upkeep of a car. If your instructor suggests you move on, and that is something you want to do, then do it. Don't worry about what your parents think about it or what they are not going to do for you. It is your life and you need to make it happen.
