I'd consider a Bach 6 1/2 AL or a Bowman BB3. The BB3 looks to be of similar size to the 6 1/2 AL. As far as the 6 1/2 AL being a trombone mouthpiece, I think that the person playing on the horn as a much greater influence on the tone than the mouthpiece. Brian Bowman Bowman played on a 6/1/2 AL thoughtout college and after he was in the military bands. He only switched to a 51D after he was already playing professionally. Another example is Harold Brasch, he used the mouthpiece that came with his Boosey $ Hawkes Imperial. I believe it was a Bession 10, which was not a large mouthpiece.
