It was a joke. I have learned F tuba fingerings, and if someone had given me a horn like the Holton in CC for the same price I might have made the jump just to take advantage of it. But given the instruments I have in BBb, I can't think of any great reason to switch. At $10,000-plus--the cost of CC tubas I've clearly liked better than my BBb tubas--I'm unable to be swayed.

Standard procedure: Allow CC-playing buddy to try Holton. CC-playing buddy is extremely impressed by great sound, good playability, good scale, and good intonation, and asks what I paid. Upon hearing the response, said buddy drops jaw. Rick enjoys the warm glow of the BBb advantage.
