Thanks C(G), it does look interesting, but I note that the software evidently just models a straight-line horn, with no allowance for the effects of bends or the twisting inside a valve. I wonder if any brass manufacturers have acquired this package.
BK's comment about the time involved is typical of much optimization software. Note that I didn't say it couldn't be done, it just isn't easy. I was involved in a project in the late '70s that used a similar transmission-line approach to produce a voice synthesizer.
